adidas and Richmond Football Club have today announced a multi-year partnership, as adidas becomes the Club’s official apparel partner for its AFL and AFLW teams starting in the 2027 season. The partnership will marry adidas's global sporting performance and Richmond's sporting legacy with a firm view on what comes next for the sport to bring both players and fans the best in sport, product and retail experiences.
- adidas will be the official apparel partner of Richmond Football Club in a multi-year partnership starting next season
- Both the AFL and AFLW sides will wear The Three Stripes as adidas makes its comeback to one of Australia’s most iconic sports
- The partnership will launch with a brand film celebrating both Richmond and adidas’s shared values of excellence, legacy and empowering the next generation
In a return to the AFL after more than a decade for adidas, this signifies two sporting heritage brands coming together to accelerate the evolution and next generation of the AFL. Having accumulated 12 top 30 picks across the past three drafts including 10 first rounders, Richmond is focused on building for future success. Meanwhile, adidas enters into the partnership backed by the power of innovation to bring a new perspective to training and playing apparel technology in Australia, based on global engineering and expertise.
Celebrating Richmond’s rich history and how legacy acts as important building block to motivate the next generation of players, the partnership launches with a brand film featuring Club greats and future stars. Set in an old-school classroom, the film sees Kevin Bartlett play archival footage of the Club's premiership years to Sam Lalor, Toby Nankervis, Jayden Short and Ellie McKenzie from today's squad; the past handing over to the present.
"This is an exciting time for adidas as we reconnect with the AFL community through Richmond FC; it’s players and fans,” said Rachel Howard, GM adidas Pacific.
"When it comes to sport, adidas knows what it takes to bring global excellence to local markets, and we see this as a best-in-class example of that here in Australia. There’s no better way to connect with sport than through the clubs, athletes and fans who make it what it is."
“As a Club we are incredibly excited about what is upon us on and off the field. We have the structure, talent and ambition to continue building on our strengths and have set a clear path for what comes next,” said Richmond CEO Shane Dunne.
“The right partners are an important part of that ambition, which is why we’re so excited to welcome adidas as our Official Apparel Partner. Together, we have an opportunity to bring something new to our players and fans, and we can’t wait to show them what’s ahead.”
