Heart and soul player Katie Brennan will run out in her 75th AFLW game this weekend, when Richmond face Collingwood in its season opener.
Brennan has been a pioneer of the game since the AFLW’s inception, signing as a marquee player for the Western Bulldogs in the inaugural 2017 season.
The prolific forward captained the Dogs during her three-year tenure before joining Richmond in 2020, where she went on to captain the Club for a further five years, becoming the longest-standing captain in the competition’s history.
At 33 years old, Brennan embodies leadership in every facet of the game, from her on-field performances to the way she lifts and supports her teammates.
From her aerial contest, marking prowess and ability to stand tall when her team needs her most, Brennan has been a strong and consistent performer on the road to 75 games.
Amongst her long list of accolades, Brennan is a four-time Richmond leading goal scorer, two-time AFLW All-Australian and two-time Richmond Players’ Player.
Brennan currently sits fifth on the all-time goalscoring leaderboard, with an impressive 84 career goals.
Teammates Monique Conti and Gabby Seymour lauded Brennan on her achievement, with both players looking forward to running out alongside Brennan to celebrate her milestone achievement.
“It's been an honour to play alongside her. She’s done so much work to get to this point, and yeah, I'm super proud of her and super excited,” Conti said.
“What an achievement. She’s been a pioneer of this game since the start, and yeah, I'm really excited to get to share 75 games with her,” Seymour said.
