Punt Road Wines and Richmond Football Club have launched The Home Ground, a limited-release 2025 Cabernet Shiraz and the first wine in a new collector series created by the two partners.
Just 1,885 individually numbered bottles have been produced, marking Richmond Football Club’s founding year, The Home Ground brings together two histories with roots on Melbourne’s Punt Road.
On 2 August 2026, Punt Road Wines winemaker Jarrod Johnson presented bottle No. 1,885 to Richmond CEO Shane Dunne at the MCG, ahead of Richmond’s Round 21 match against West Coast.
The wine will be available first to Richmond members from Monday 17 August, before its public release on 22 August 2026.
Punt Road Wines takes its name from the original Airlie Bank vineyard planted on Punt Road in the 1850s, near the ground Richmond would later call home. Today, the Napoleone family grows and makes wine on its Coldstream estate in the Yarra Valley, which the family has farmed since 1948.
The Home Ground is made entirely from fruit grown on the Napoleone Vineyard in Coldstream. A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Shiraz, the 2025 wine is dark fruited and perfumed, with notes of liquorice, earth and spice and the depth to reward cellaring for 15+ years.
A small number of one-of-a-kind collector bottles have also been signed by Richmond players, with selected bottle numbers matching each player’s guernsey number. These will be available in individual gift boxes, limited to one per customer.
