Emerging pair Jonty Faull and Taj Hotton have extended their contracts at Richmond for a further two years, tying them to the Club until the end of 2029.
The first-round draftees from the 2024 AFL National Draft, have played 26 (Faull) and 16 (Hotton) AFL games respectively since arriving at Punt Road.
Faull has impressed with his physicality, athleticism, and ability to compete in the air, while Hotton has caught the eye of Richmond fans with his evasiveness and natural football ability across his first two years.
The 195cm Ballarat product was asked to play a key role in an undermanned forward line earlier this season and had begun to emerge in strong form before a back injury ended his campaign early.
Faull played a career-best game in the Round 8 win against West Coast with three goals and three contested marks and was prolific against the Saints a fortnight later with 13 touches and seven marks.
Hotton recovered from his existing ACL injury to play seven consecutive games from Round 18 in his debut season last year and has done similar again in 2026 with nine straight games after missing the first half of the year with a hip injury.
The former pick No. 12 overall has averaged 12.5 disposals, three tackles and two clearances per game across his AFL career while showing the ability to hit the scoreboard and take a contested mark.
Hotton’s best game this season came in the Round 18 two-point loss to Carlton, where he racked up 18 disposals including 10 contested, had four clearances and kicked a fourth quarter goal while the Tigers were mounting a comeback.
Richmond Executive General Manager, Football Talent- Blair Hartley said that the pair were an important part of the Club’s future.
“We are thrilled that Jonty and Taj have extended their time at Richmond. Both boys are highly driven to get the most out of themselves and this playing group, which is an exciting prospect,” he said.
“Jonty is building an understanding of what it takes to play as a key forward at AFL level, and his attitude to embrace those challenges earlier in the year was impressive. We were just starting to see the best of him before he was unfortunately struck down by injury.
“He plays the game the right way and has shown all the traits that made us rate him so highly through the talent pathway.
“Taj is just scratching the surface of his potential, and it has been great to see him get some continuity in his football since returning from injury with nine straight AFL games and another in the VFL.
"He brings a skill set that will really help us going forward, with his ability to inject some excitement and release his teammates all over the ground.
“We are looking forward to seeing both these players continue to work hard across the summer and to be big drivers in what we are all looking to achieve as a Club."
