Young midfielder/forward Sam Lalor has committed his future to Richmond, signing a two-year extension to remain at the Club.
Lalor joined the Club on an initial three-year deal until the end of 2027 as a first-round pick and the fresh contract will see him through until 2029.
The 19-year-old has played 23 AFL matches, averaging 13 disposals and better than a goal per game.
He has also displayed genuine match-winning ability with his performances as a deep forward and through his inside and outside midfield capabilities.
Lalor averaged three tackles and four inside 50s this season and has booted multiple goals on seven occasions in his AFL career.
The former No. 1 draft pick was last year voted as the Club’s Bill Cosgrove/Harry Jenkins Medallist as best first-year player, despite missing 12 games.
Already a fan favourite, Lalor is also noted for his leadership capabilities and is a popular teammate for his standards and work ethic.
Richmond Executive General Manager, Football Talent Blair Hartley said that Lalor was highly committed to the Club’s future.
"Sam is just scratching the surface on his potential and is fully committed to the club.” he said.
“He is clearly going to be a big part of our future such is his talent and natural leadership. Sam also leads the way with the way he trains and his hunger to get better.
“This contract extension is exciting news for all of us at the Club and the Tiger Army and we cannot wait to see what the next three-years and beyond holds for Sam as a key part of our team.”
Lalor will return to training in November and like a host of his teammates is set for a full pre-season after having interruptions across the past two years.
He is among a boon of Richmond contract extensions this week with Taj Hotton, Jonty Faull and Harry Armstrong also signing on until 2029 and Tom Lynch committing for next year.
