Three-time Jack Dyer Medallist, Tim Taranto, has revealed Richmond players were jealous and envious watching the Brisbane Lions win back-to-back-to-back premierships, with the group to use it as fuel to drive strong improvement next season.

Speaking after winning this year's Jack Dyer Medal with 55 votes, Taranto didn't mince his words when discussing the future, saying he is "in a rush" for success, a theme shared by the entire playing group.

"I've been in Melbourne the past month watching the finals and I'm not going to lie, it's been pretty tough," Taranto said.

"I had a bunch of the boys over on Grand Final day and we were watching the game just marvelling at Brisbane and the skill...I can't believe how good they are. I just want us to be there and I know all the boys who were with me watching were just so jealous. We are filled with jealousy and envy of them, that's all we want and that's all the boys want.

"The core group is there but it's just about how fast we can fast-track the development. I'm in a rush and I know a lot of the other boys are."

Taranto has established himself as one of the elite midfielders in the entire AFL and he holds immense belief in the group of on-ballers the Tigers have.

"We've got amazing boys, I think the midfield took a massive step forward this year and I expect another one next year," he said.

"I'm very confident in the midfield group, and I think there's a great mix, some really good, tough blokes, some good speed, some good skill...I'm excited to see next year."

Taranto etched his name into the Tigerland history books on Tuesday night, becoming just the 10th player in Club history to win at least three Jack Dyer Medals.

"It's pretty special. You certainly don't set out for these awards, you never do. I am proud but I'm also very happy for my family, I know they would be more excited than I am to be honest," Taranto said.

"My partner Tash and my family in the room, they're the ones who have done so much for me to be here. I thank them very much.”
