Kieren Briggs

Richmond has signed ruckman Kieren Briggs to a four-year deal on the opening day of the free agency period.

Here are 10 fast facts about the newest Tiger…

1. Briggs played soccer until he was 11, going on to then join the Pennant Hill Demons, beginning his Australian Rules Football journey.
2. Briggs joined the GWS Giants Academy when he was just 13 years old.
3. In 2018, Briggs made a major statement, winning the MVP for both the Giants Academy and Allies in the U18 National Championships.
4. Briggs was drafted with pick No. 34 in the 2018 National Draft, becoming the Giants’ second-ever Western Sydney selection at the time.
5. His AFL debut ironically came against Richmond in Round 9, 2021. Briggs had 15 hit-outs and seven disposals in that contest.

6. Briggs enjoyed a breakout 2023 campaign, playing 17 games from Round 10 and becoming a vital cog to the team that made the preliminary final. He finished the 2023 campaign leading all ruckmen in clearances per game.
7. Briggs won the GWS Community Award in 2023.
8. Briggs ranked fifth in the AFL for hit-outs during a career-best 2024 season, where he played 24 games.
9. This past season, Briggs averaged 12 disposals, 24 hit-outs and 3.4 tackles.
10. Briggs joins Richmond having appeared in 88 games and kicking 16 goals in eight seasons with GWS.
