The Richmond Academy’s search for talent continues to grow, with the Next Generation Academy (NGA) recently holding a High Performance Camp and Come & Try Day.

The Camp, which took place on Wednesday September 30 and Thursday October 1, saw 21 Academy players from the Tigers’ NGA and father-son programs immerse themselves into an elite performance environment.

Across the two days, the players sat in on an AFL game review with Richmond VFL coach Jack Madgen, an AFL Grand Final game review with the Head of Richmond Academy Harmit Singh, heard from Richmond CEO Shane Dunne, had a cultural session with Richmond Indigenous Cultural Capability Manager Luke Murray, while also learning from experts in the recovery, wellbeing and gym space.

Football training sessions were also at the forefront of the camp, helping the young talent refine their skills and execution.

"The High Performance Camp was a fantastic opportunity to bring together 21 young footballers from Victoria and South Australia for an intensive training block,” Singh said.

"Our camps take a truly holistic approach. Players completed a rigorous on-field and gym program, complemented by invaluable educational sessions.

"We were privileged to have outstanding insights from key leaders within our organisation, including CEO Shane Dunne, Richmond VFL Coach Jack Madgen, Richmond Institute Education Manager David Bastian, and Education Coordinator Adriana Aloi.

"It has been incredibly rewarding to witness the connection and growth among our Richmond Academy players - both on and off the field - and we will continue providing the framework they need to thrive.”

The Academy’s most recent Come & Try Day saw about 60 players participate, a fantastic result given the Club’s new metro Melbourne zone is still growing.

Participants went through high performance testing, strength and conditioning, fundamental skill rotations, and match play.

Identified players will now progress through to Richmond’s 'Emerging Talent Squad' Program which will commence in November.
