Richmond Executive General Manager, Football Talent, Blair Hartley, has provided an update on the Jayden Short situation on the penultimate day of the AFL trade period.
"We've got 24 hours to go, that can be like a week at this time of year,” Hartley told Trade Radio.
"Collingwood have offered Jayden a contract, and as I said on day one, we had sat down with Jayden and we said we'd listen and, that's probably where it's at right now. We'll continue to listen, we've told Jayden we'd do that, and there's 24 hours to go."
Hartley added the Tigers have "put our best foot forward” in regards to a potential deal with Port Adelaide for the Power’s pick No.5 in the upcoming draft.
While lots can still happen, Hartley said Richmond’s focus has turned to ensuring a strong hand in November’s draft, as opposed to bringing in more established talent over the next 24 hours.
"Not at this stage. Our focus is how important it is for our Club this year to hit the draft before before Tasmania grab a hold of it,” Hartley said.
