Star key forward Tom Lynch and gun midfielder Dion Prestia were equal top vote-getters in the Richmond v Port Adelaide Round 18 voting for the 2019 AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year award.

They both received eight votes from rival coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Ken Hinkley (Port Adelaide) for the major impact they had in the Tigers’ 38-point win.

Lynch finished the match with 19 disposals, an equal game-high 13 contested possessions, team-high nine marks, game-high four contested marks, five inside-50s, three goals and an impressive 12 score involvements.

Prestia had an equal game-high 30 disposals, equal game-high 13 contested possessions, a team-high six clearances, equal game-high seven rebound-50s, five inside-50s, four tackles, one goal, nine score involvements and 532 metres gained.

Dynamic Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin picked up four votes for his strong performance – an equal game-high 30 disposals, game-high eight inside-50s, five clearances, one goal, six score involvements and 581 metres gained.

Dependable Tiger key defender David Astbury – 16 disposals, five marks, four rebound-50s and an equal game-high nine intercepts – also polled four votes.

Rounding out Richmond’s Round 18 vote-getters in the prestigious coaches’ award were Dylan Grimes and Brandon Ellis with two apiece.
