Richmond’s win against Gold Coast at the MCG last Sunday was the ninth time this season it has kept the opposition to 10 goals or less.

The Tigers restricted the Suns to just 8.7 (55) in beating them by 83 points.

They previously limited Brisbane to eight goals in Round 3, Port to five goals in Round 8, Essendon to eight goals in Round 9, Fremantle to 10 goals in Round 10, GWS to 10 goals in Round 14, Carlton to five goals in Round 15, St Kilda to 10 goals in Round 16, and Hawthorn to seven goals in Round 18, in winning all those games.

On the other end of the goalkicking scale, the 22.6 (138) which Richmond registered against Gold Coast was its highest score of the season.

It was just the fourth time in 2015 that the Tigers have scored 100 points or more in a match, and the first since Round 7 against Collingwood (105 points on that occasion).

The 83-point final margin also was Richmond’s biggest win of season 2015.

Star Tiger playmaker Brett Deledio took his season’s goal tally to 20 with his three six-pointers against the Suns on Sunday.

Deledio has kicked 11 goals in his past four games (three v St Kilda, Round 16, one v Fremantle, Round 17, four v Hawthorn, Round 18, and three v Gold Coast, Round 20).

He is well on track for a season-high goal return this year, with his best tally being 28 in 2008.

Clever forward Sam Lloyd scored three goals on Sunday for the fifth time in his 17-game league career at Richmond.

Lloyd previously booted three goals in his league debut with the Tigers against Collingwood in Round 4, 2014, three v Geelong, Round 7, 2014, three v Port Adelaide, Round 17, 2014, and three v Carlton in the opening round this season.

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin celebrated his 150-game milestone against Gold Coast with a win that took his overall AFL winning strike-rate to exactly 50 percent.

Cotchin has played in 74 wins, two draws and 74 losses.

The 38,508 crowd at Sunday’s Richmond v Gold Coast game at the MCG was the Suns’ highest-ever attendance for a match in Victoria.

Their previous best attendance was 36,913 against Collingwood in Round 10, 2012.

That Sunday crowd of 38,508 easily eclipsed the previous best attendance for a Richmond-Gold Coast game, which was 19,425 in the opening round of the 2014 season.

What a difference accurate kicking for goal makes . . .

Richmond had 28 scoring shots against Fremantle at the MCG in Round 17, but managed only 10 goals in what was a four-point loss.

Last Sunday, the Tigers steered through 22 goals from their 28 scoring shots against the Suns.
