JAKE King is back in yellow and black.

The 25-year-old small defender, who last played for Richmond in the round-three loss to the Western Bulldogs, has forced his way back into the side on the back of impressive performances with Coburg in the VFL.

Joining him in the side to play Carlton at the MCG on Saturday are midfielder Matthew White and tall defender Alex Rance.

Two of the three omissions have been forced, with Nathan Foley (calf) and exciting youngster Andrew Collins (hip) both expected to miss two to three weeks.

Jarrod Silvester has been dropped after two games in the seniors.

Football manager Ross Monaghan told richmondfc.com.au that King's form had demanded he be selected.

"Jake's been playing some really good footy with Coburg in the last few weeks, and deserves his opportunity," he said.

"Matthew's had one game back with Coburg after missing a number with a hamstring injury, and he showed some really good form last week, so he's back in.

"Also, Alex Rance is back in – he was a bit unfortunate to miss last week, and he's done everything right, as always."
