Sydney Stack at Richmond training in August, 2020.

Richmond player Sydney Stack will return to Melbourne from Western Australia after being fined $6000 for breaching Western Australia’s quarantine rules.

Stack, who returned to his home state from Victoria - via the Adelaide Airport on compassionate grounds in December, was charged during his mandatory 14-day quarantine period for failing to comply with direction.

The 20-year-old has been on bail in Western Australia since January 9, reporting to Perth’s Midland police station twice a week.

Following today’s verdict Stack is free to travel back to Victoria to train with his teammates at the Swinburne Centre.

Richmond General Manager - Football Talent Blair Hartley, who supported Stack in court today, said the entire Club looked forward to welcoming the 20-year-old back to Melbourne.

“Clearly, the last few months have been difficult for Sydney, so it was great to get some good news today that he can re-join our football program in Victoria,” Hartley said.

“Sydney’s welfare and overall health will remain our priority upon his return, and we will continue to support him however best we can.

“We would like to thank all those that have helped Sydney during his time in Western Australia in particular his manager Paul Peos and the AFLPA.”
