Round 16: 'The competition's never been tighter' - Nankervis
Co-Captain, Toby Nankervis, speaks to ABC Radio on the tigers victory, Daniel Rioli,…
The tenacious ruckman took the field for his fifth season as a Tiger in 2021, following three years with Sydney.
Last year was the third successive injury-interrupted season for Nankervis, who missed seven matches because of a PCL injury suffered in round 11, plus foot and finger issues.
The triple flag-winner remains one of Richmond’s most crucial players and will reach the 100-game mark early in 2022.
In February 2022, Nankervis was named as a co-captain of the Richmond Football Club alongside Dylan Grimes.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said the pair set the highest of examples for their teammates.
"Dylan and Toby play football the way we think it should be played. They are tough, uncompromising, and team orientated," Hardwick said.
Honours: Premiership sides 2017, 2019, 2020, Richmond co-captain 2022.
Brownlow Medal: 2021 votes 3; career votes 9.
Previous AFL club: Sydney (2015-16: 12 games, 3 goals).
Draft history: 2013 NAB AFL Draft 2nd round selection (Sydney) No. 35; 2016 NAB AFL Draft traded by Sydney for No. 45 (Jack Maibaum).
