Exciting defender Sydney Stack and promising tall Ben Miller have committed to Richmond for the 2022 season.
Stack has played 33 games since being selected as a Pre-Season Supplementary player in the 2019 pre-season, exciting fans with his natural flair.
Stack spent the early parts of 2021 playing for the Tigers at reserve level before forcing his way back into the senior side in Round 17.
The 21-year-old played the final seven matches of the year at AFL level, averaging 16.7 disposals, 5.1 marks, 2.4 tackles and 2.5 rebound 50s per game.
Stack was especially prolific in the Round 20 game against Fremantle, finishing the match with a career-high 25 disposals, five rebound-50s, career-high 10 marks, four score involvements, and 455 metres gained.
The youngster again showed his versatility, booting two last-quarter goals to help Richmond snatch an unlikely draw in Round 23 after being swung forward.
Miller, 22, made his AFL debut in that game, a reward for four years of improvement on the Tigers’ list.
The 198cm utility did not look out of place in his first match at the level, having six disposals, four intercepts and a game-high eight one-percenters.
Miller was on the cusp of selection for most of the 2021 season, being named an emergency on five occasions.
The former third-round draft pick (No. 63 overall at the 2017 AFL Draft) averaged 15 disposals and four marks from seven VFL games this year.
Richmond General Manager- Football Talent Blair Hartley said the duo had worked hard for their late-season senior games.
“Both Sydney and Ben were able to work their way into the AFL line-up late this season, which should hold them in good stead for 2022,” he added.
“We are excited about what they can achieve next year with another pre-season under their belts and look forward to working with them this summer.”
