Liam Baker is thriving in his old role as a defender within Richmond’s line-up following a stint up forward.

The dual premiership Tiger backman showcased his skill set and courage in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G win against Essendon.

He had 30 disposals, nine contested possessions, an equal team-high six tackles, nine intercepts, eight score involvements, 475 metres gained and took five marks.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick acknowledged Baker’s excellent efforts throughout the contest during his post-match press conference.

“His last two weeks have been fantastic. His ability to win the ball, and then start our offense, has been very important,” Hardwick said.

“Guys like Liam Baker probably epitomise what our club’s about.

“He’s very valuable, can play multiple positions, and just plays the game the Richmond way, which we love.”
