Richmond Football Club will dedicate its Round 14 home match against Carlton to its preferred charity partner of over a decade, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.
This year’s annual dedicated fixture will see the Club focus on the Foundation’s Buddy Bags program, which delivers a backpack full of comfort to children arriving at refuges, moving into foster care, or in crisis.
The Buddy Bags theme will carry into the specially designed PUMA-match guernsey for the game, with children’s messages and drawings to the Foundation printed subtly into Richmond’s famous yellow sash.
Richmond’s matchday jumper will also include a purple trim around the guernsey to signify the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.
The Foundation has been championing the rights of children and young people for 25 years, with its core mission to help them live free from violence and trauma wherever they live, learn, and play.
One backpack can mean the world to a vulnerable child, who often feels scared and alone.
Messages printed on the jumper from children include “thank you for making a little girl feel at home” and “thanks for all the beautiful things you gave me.”
Since partnering in 2012, Richmond and the Tiger Army have raised an incredible $1,464,581 for the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.
