Conventionally, camera-trapping by WWF-Malaysia was carried out once every five years, with the camera-traps kept active only for nine months to a year before being removed from the forest.
Under the 12th Malaysia Plan, long-term monitoring started at the end of 2020, where the camera-traps will be maintained continuously over several years. This would enable the project to monitor the residents as well as transient tigers that are moving in and out of the landscape.
