Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday's Round 2 win over the Coburg at Piranha Park.

10:59

Tyler Sonsie (37 disposals, 14 contested possessions, seven clearances, six tackles)

"Was outstanding on the day with 37 disposals and high contested possession numbers. He teamed up with Thomson Dow extremely well in the midfield to gain ascendancy on the day after a quiet first quarter from our midfielders."

Thomson Dow (29 disposals, 17 contested possessions, nine clearances)

"He was a standout performer on the day, I thought he really kick-started us in the second quarter and was a class above. He's in really good form."

Lachlan Street (23 disposals, seven marks, six rebound-50s)

"He's also in really good form. We asked him to go down back and perform a role in the third quarter, but he was clearly a standout performer throughout our midfield and has been doing that really well over the last few weeks."

Garrett McDonagh (18 disposals, three marks, three inside-50s)

"Conditions probably didn't suit Garrett in terms of his ball use, but we've seen time and time again over the last few weeks that his ball use, if we can get him kicking the ball inside 50, is second to none. We just need to find ways to involve him more in our offence, but he's doing a really good job defensively as well at the moment."

Ben Miller (17 disposals, four clearances, four marks)

"Whilst the stats sheet may not suggest it, Ben had an outstanding game. He halved a number of contests in our forward half that directly resulted in goals for us, and they're the sorts of acts that we really value. I thought he was an imposing big man on the day around the ground."

Angus Hicks (17 disposals, eight tackles, five marks, two goals)

"Angus was outstanding. He kicked a couple of goals but had a game-leading eight tackles for us. We know he uses the ball beautifully when he gets it, he's in really good form"

00:16

Sam Banks (15 disposals, five marks, four tackles)

"He was open on the wing for a lot of the day, we just couldn't get the ball to him through the opposition's defence and our offence. We weren't able to utilise him as well as we would have liked, but hoping to do more so in the future."

Seth Campbell (15 disposals, four inside, three marks)

"Made a really good return from injury and he's a really exciting player for us for the future. It was his first game for the Club, and he certainly showed us what he's capable of. He's a player that Tigers fans can be really excited about."

Fraser Elliot (15 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five tackles)

"Played majority through the midfield and some down back, where he's developing his game. We know he's a contested ball bull, but it's nice to be able to add different elements to his game and I think he's doing that nicely at the moment."

Tom Bracher (15 disposals, five rebound-50s, four marks)

"Played his role really well. He was pretty sound in defence and used the ball well from the back half, as we know he can. I was really pleased with his outing."

Bigoa Nyuon (13 disposals, 30 hit-outs, six marks)

"Continues to be a real presence both in the ruck and around the ground. I'm loving his follow up work at the moment and I think he's playing with a real hunger that we're really looking forward to seeing develop over the coming weeks, whatever role he plays."

Steely Green (13 disposals, six tackles, three marks)

"He's a really exciting player. He's got incredible upside and is only relatively new to the game. You can see his decision making and ball use is second to none, he sees things that others can't. He really offered us something when he went into the midfield in the second half."

Austin Johnson (13 disposals, four marks, four tackles, one goal)

"Extremely solid game from Austin. He's hard, he's tough, he knows our structures, he runs good patterns and he's a competitor. He also kicked a beautiful goal at the start of the game."

Mutaz El Nour (13 disposals, five marks, four rebound-50s, one goal)

"Continues to really stand out. His contested work is really good, he locks his opponent away before getting involved in our offence. It was great to see his teammates rally around him for his first goal in Tigers colours."

Tom Brindley (13 disposals, five marks, three tackles)

"Anyone who's watched the last few weeks would have really seen him stand out. His high-flying marking as well as his aerobic capacity and ability to get from contest to contest has been a highlight. The great thing about him is we know we can play him in so many positions and it was good to be able to trial him on a wing on the weekend."

James Trezise (11 disposals, six tackles, three marks)

"Was again rock solid in defence. He's such as athletic player and can get to contests that others just can't. His toughness is really underrated, we loved seeing him step in and finish the game with six bone-crunching tackles."

Mohammed Yassine (nine disposals, four inside-50s, one goal)

"A graduate of our Bachar Houli Academy, it was really pleasing it to see him debut on the weekend. He's a great young man that has worked extremely hard to get to the position that he's got himself to. He earned his spot and we certainly saw him display some of the traits that have got him to this point. We're looking for him to build upon that performance this week, as his speed and defensive pressure really do stand out."

Harrison White (eight disposals, four marks, one goal)

"Had a reasonable game and showed his class late in the game with a beautiful finish. Unfortunately, Harrison hurt his shoulder with an injury that he's suffered before, and will most likely miss the next few weeks. We wish Harrison well and we're very lucky to have him as a part of our program.

Kaelan Bradtke (seven disposals, four marks, two goals)

"An interesting day for Kaelan. He had five shots on goal and kicked a couple. He had a really good battle with his Coburg defender. It was a really good game for him to learn from and improve his craft so that he can access more opportunities for shots on goal. But he's made a really good start in Richmond colours."

Jacob Bauer (seven disposals, four marks, three goals)

"An up and down game from Jacob, we found him a little bit too far from the ball at times, but when he's around the ball, he flies at it. He halved a number of contests that we were really pleased with, and he hit the scoreboard quite heavily and could have done so even further. We want to see his work rate gradually improve over the coming weeks, given the fact he's only just returning to footy. But, I think he's made a pretty good start to the season."

01:28

Misilifi Faimalo (six disposals, three tackles, two marks)

"Whilst his stats don't catch the eye, his speed and his defensive pressure certainly do in our front half. He's a wonderful person to have a part of our program. He drives the standards in terms of our defence and wanting to win the ball back for us, and he makes those around him better. We look forward to continuing to see those traits shine through."

Billy Cooper (six disposals, two marks, one goal)

"Had his first game for the Club and he's gradually starting to understand the structures and the way we play. It was fantastic to see him kick a beautiful, front and centre goal snapping around his body."

Robbie Tarrant (five disposals, four marks, three rebound-50s)

"I thought he was really solid with a number of great clearing spoils. It was good to see him get through the half of footy that we set aside for him on the weekend and take some steps forward to returning to senior footy."
