Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday's match against Gold Coast at the Swinburne Centre.

Thomson Dow (28 disposals, 16 contested possessions, 11 clearances, five inside-50s)

"Was absolutely outstanding on the weekend, leading the way with 11 clearances. He was a big reason as to why we were able to win the clearance battle despite being beaten in hit-outs."

Sam Banks (23 disposals, seven marks, five inside-50s)

"Continues to progress really nicely. His work-rate on a wing really does stand out, and a couple of his chases to put pressure on resulted in turnovers which we were able to score off. He's in great form and it's been a really promising start to the season for Sam."

Lachlan Street (22 disposals, six inside-50s, six tackles)

"Was pretty solid again on the weekend. He's pretty reliable in and around the contest and we continue to challenge him to improve his spread from contest and get involved more in our transition."

Cam Olden (22 disposals, 14 contested possessions, eight clearances, six tackles)

"I'd like to be able to clone Cam, because I think he would really help us forward of the footy at the moment. To have eight clearances and six tackles in the midfield in a position that we see as his secondary spot is a really good effort."

Hugo Ralphsmith (21 disposals, seven inside-50s, two goals)

"I thought his offensive game was outstanding and we would like to see his starting points improve slightly on defence, but he certainly wants to get involved in our attack and he kicked two of the better goals you'll see. He had some really important contests for us."

Garrett McDonagh (20 disposals, three marks, two tackles)

"Didn't get utilised as often as we would have liked him to on the weekend and that cost him some opportunities. But, his left foot certainly opens the game up for us."

Brad Melville (19 disposals, eight marks, five tackles, one goal)

"Had a really good game and another step forward. He's one of our most important players, he's a beautiful finisher, is clean, and has great leadership."

James Trezise (17 disposals, seven marks, two tackles)

"Outstanding game once again. He's coming ahead in leaps and bounds, he's strong in the contest aerially, uses his athleticism to his advantage and has great flexibility."

Jacob Bauer (15 disposals, nine rebound-50s, two marks)

"Defensively, I thought he did a really good job. We've been coaching him pretty hard in this space and he's made some really good adjustments over the last couple of weeks. He can hold his head high with some great contest work down there."

Nathan Philactides (13 disposals, four rebound-50s, one mark)

"It was a great opportunity for Nathan to play at this level. Playing VFL footy was a step up for him with the pace of the game, but he showed his talent with a few really exciting pieces of play throughout the game."

Angus Hicks (12 disposals, two inside-50s)

"We can rely on him to run the right patterns and he knows exactly the way we want to play. I thought his hands at ground level weren't as good as they have been over the past few weeks, but generally when the ball finds its way into his hands, things happen."

Tom Bracher (12 disposals, one clearance)

"Didn't have the influence he did the previous week. We need to find ways to bring him into the game because he is one that we can utilise to slice through the opposition's defence."

Steely Green (11 disposals, five tackles, four marks)

"Was okay without being a standout. We threw him into the middle of the ground at different stages to give us a bit of a spark and he definitely gives us that around the footy. His contest work is really strong, he probably just didn't have the influence on the game that we would like him to have."

Luke Teal (11 disposals, five tackles, three marks)

"Had an outstanding game the previous week, and I think Sunday was one of those games that will be a blessing in disguise for him. He'll take a lot of learnings from this to improve as a defender."

Max Clohesy (11 disposals, three inside-50s, two marks)

"Was solid again on the weekend. I think he needs to continue to get more involved in our offence, but defensively I thought he was quite sound with his bodywork."

Rhyan Mansell (10 disposals, five tackles, three goals)

"Had a really good game with five tackles, 10 disposals and three goals in three quarters of footy. He probably could have kicked a couple more if we had have finished our work a little better up the field, but it really pleasing to see him come back and have such an influence."

Ben Bilston-McGillen (10 disposals, three marks)

"He's made a really good start to his VFL career. We can certainly see the talent that he has and his ability to win contest is very good, so we've got a lot to work with there."

Joel Nathan (nine disposals, four marks, one goal)

"Once again, he was good ahead of the footy. He provided us with a really good contest, it was a solid game from him."

Billy Cooper (nine disposals, two tackles, two rebound-50s)

"I thought his aerial contest work was really good against a formidable opponent. I would just like to see him use his work-rate offensively as well as defensively."

Archie May (eight disposals, four clearances, two tackles)

"A great lesson on the weekend against some really experienced players and bigger bodies. He'll take a lot out of the game."

Bigoa Nyuon (seven disposals, three marks, one goal)

"It was his first game back for a few weeks and he was probably a little bit rusty. But, we all saw what raw talent he has with a beautiful spread from stoppage and long-range goal from outside-50."

Austin Johnson (seven disposals, four tackles, two inside-50s)

"Had a little bit of a down day. His impact wasn't up to his usual high standards, but he's had a fantastic start to the season."

Harrison White (six disposals, three marks, one goal)

"Had his first game for a month after a pretty serious shoulder injury and it was great to have him back out on the park. He's a really classy player that will benefit from the outing."
