Richmond has responded to last week’s loss to the Western Bulldogs in style, defeating Brisbane by 79 points at the Gabba.
The Tigers had 12 individual goalkickers (seven multiples), led by spearhead Jack Riewoldt, who booted four, while captain Trent Cotchin was dominant with 37 disposals, seven clearances and a goal.
Richmond controlled the second half, kicking 13 goals to four, with Dustin Martin collecting 20 disposals in the last two quarters.
He finished with 29, while fellow midfielders Anthony Miles (29 possessions and seven clearances), Shane Edwards (26) and Brandon Ellis were prolific.
Bachar Houli was brilliant across half back, winning 32 disposals.
The Tigers got the perfect start to the match, with a Ben Griffiths long set shot followed by a running goal from Kamdyn McIntosh, inside the first two minutes.
The Lions responded with two goals of their own, before goals to Steve Morris and Cotchin, who had 12 disposals in the first term, gave the Tigers some breathing space.
Richmond, which enjoyed a 16-9 inside 50 count, led by nine points at the first change.
Scoring was difficult for both teams in the first portion of the second quarter, before four-straight goals by the Tigers, including three in two minutes in red time, gave it a 24-point buffer at half time.
The dream of returning to the AFL playing field has been the motivating factor for Tiger Chris Knights, during nearly two years out of the game through injury.
