The Richmond VFL side secured a gritty five-point win against Sydney in Beaconsfield last Saturday afternoon. Here’s how coach Jake Batchelor assessed the performance of each player.
Lachlan Street (31 disposals, 12 inside-50s, nine clearances, seven marks)
“A strong performance as an inside mid, he got his hands on the ball and kicked the ball inside-50 for us on multiple occasions. It was a great leader's game.”
Harry Scott (25 disposals, eight marks, six tackles, four inside-50s)
“Improving each week as an inside midfielder, extremely strong around the contest and had great hands. He’s now adding the outside part of the game to his repertoire.”
Jacob Blight (24 disposals, 12 marks, 10 intercept possessions)
"Another strong performance, he was good in the air and it’s good to see him put some focuses into action.”
Lachlan Wilson (21 disposals, eight tackles, seven intercept possessions)
“Played as an inside mid this week, we mixed up his role again at times. He won contested ball, had another six tackles and was always at the bottom of the packs. Love him.”
James Trezise (19 disposals, seven tackles, six marks, 95% disposal efficiency)
“Played half-back, some strong contest work from him. We will keep finding ways to get more of the ball into his hands.”
Austin Johnson (18 disposals, nine intercept possessions, six marks)
“Ran up and down the wing all day for us, he finds a good balance of attack and defence. He’s a really important part of our team.”
Maurice Rioli (17 disposals, two marks, two tackles, one goal)
“Played as a high half-forward up and around the stoppage. He went a long way to helping us win the game in that last quarter, with his ability to win the ball and stay strong in the contest.”
Mutaz El Nour (17 disposals, nine marks, eight intercept possessions)
"Another well rounded game defensively and on our attack, he’s in good form.”
Joel Garner (16 disposals, six clearances, three marks, three tackles)
“Less impact as a mid this week, however still getting to the right spots and organising teammates really well, and leading the way.”
Jasper Alger (16 disposals, five marks, four tackles, three goals)
“Had five shots at goal, he was very potent and also makes something happen when he’s near the ball.”
Tylar Young (14 disposals, four marks, two tackles)
“Improvement on last week, he used his strengths versus his opponent really well and took some great intercept marks. Great game to build on.”
Mykelti Lefau (13 disposals, six tackles, four clearances, one goal)
“Started the game really strong, some really good aerial power and then went into the ruck at times in the last quarter and looked extremely strong.”
Liam George (13 disposals, two marks, two tackles)
“Quieter game stats wise but his ability to set us up, win contests and communicate extremely strong was good.”
Nicholas Collier (13 disposals, six marks, one tackle)
"Quiet game, his running power is really strong and we are looking to get him some more opportunities to win the ball back for us, but he gets back really well for us defensively.”
Liam Fawcett (11 disposals, five tackles, three marks, one goal)
“Three shots at goal, tough day for accuracy but kept presenting really well.”
Jacob Koschitzke (10 disposals, five marks, one tackle)
“Played a solid game, didn’t stuff the stats sheet. He played his role and defensively he’s really strong, he sets up behind the ball for us really well.”
Oliver Hayes-Brown (10 disposals, 20 hit-outs, six clearances)
“Had a good battle with their ruck, he competed strongly. There are a couple of opportunities for little nuances to improve.”
Mate Colina (eight disposals, 13 hit-outs, three marks)
“Great to have him back, he showed aggression in the contest which is his number one focus and he did that really well.”
Jacob Bauer (seven disposals, three marks, one goal)
“Looking to find new ways to impact when we are going inside-50, in the air and on the ground. He rounded his game out quite well.”
Seth Macdonald (six disposals, three marks, one tackle)
“Great to see him get his first game for the club, he impacted in the air and had a nice shot at goal that just missed. Looks like he’s got some scope at the level.”
Massimo Raso (four disposals, six tackles, one mark)
"Quite game for his standards purely from an attacking point of view, but his defensive mindset has really risen in the last few weeks.”
Judson Clarke recorded eight disposals and a goal in a bright start, before he was injured in the second quarter. Campbell Gray had three disposals and one mark before being ruled out of the game due to injury as well.
