Nick Vlastuin stood out like a beacon for Richmond in the 79-point loss to the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The triple premiership Tiger star defender continually put his body on the line for the team in trademark courageous style, took a couple of knocks to the head along the way, but proudly kept flying the yellow and black flag right throughout the contest.

He finished the match with an equal team-high and season-high 28 disposals, eight contested possessions, seven marks, a game-high seven rebound-50s, equal game-high nine intercepts, three score involvements and a team-high 479 metres gained.

It was a performance that further highlighted Vlastuin’s huge importance within the Tigers’ line-up.

Richmond coach Adem Yze paid tribute to Vlastuin during his post-match press conference.

“His head’s okay...he cops those hits every week. That’s the type of player he is,” Yze said.

“He’s in such good form. Nick toils away and he puts his body into places not many others do.

“That’s why he’s in good form and a really good leader of our footy club.”
