Richmond’s score in the Round 18 win against Essendon was its lowest winning total for five years.

The Tigers registered 6.10 (46) to defeat the Bombers 4.13 (37) by nine points in a hard-fought encounter under the MCG lights.

It was Round 6, 2020, when Richmond recorded a lower score to win a match.

On that occasion, the Tigers 4.10 (34) defeated Sydney 3.8 (26) in a slog-fest.

That fixture took place at the Gabba due to the Covid-19 restrictions and changes throughout the 2020 season.

Games in that Covid-affected season were on reduced minutes. So, the last time under normal match conditions that Richmond kicked a lower winning total than last Saturday night v Essendon, was 30 years ago.

In Round 3 of the 1995 season, the Tigers scored 4.16 (40) to Hawthorn’s 5.4 (34) on an extremely wet day at Waverley Park.
