Talented, young Richmond key forward Jonty Faull is making impressive progress in his debut season of AFL football.

Faull, taken by the Tigers with their fourth pick (No. 14 overall) in the 2024 national draft, produced the best performance of his fledgling career at the game’s highest level against West Coast at Optus Stadium last Saturday night.

He finished the match with 11 disposals, five contested possessions, a game-high four marks inside 50, AFL career-high two goals, game-high three goal assists and seven score involvements all-up.

Faull’s efforts in the third quarter, in particular, were first class. He kicked his two goals during that term and set up another one for teammate Tyler Sonsie in the goal square.

In the 14 appearances Faull has played at senior level with Richmond this season, he has kicked eight goals (8.16), with four of those goals coming during the past three games.

Among AFL Rising Star contenders, he is ranked second for marks inside 50 and fourth for contested marks.

It’s Faull’s fiercely competitive nature on the field and his exemplary work ethic that sets him apart from many other young key forwards in the competition.

He thrives on the physical side of the game, constantly crashing and bashing packs. But he also has good athleticism, as part of his football armoury.

Just imagine what he’s going to be like with another two or three pre-seasons under his belt - it’s a mouth-watering prospect for yellow and black barrackers.
