Emerging Richmond youngster Sam Banks has lauded the Club’s crop of 2024 draftees, saying they’ve been “awesome” in their debut season.

Heading into Round 23, the Tigers’ eight draftees have all had positive moments throughout their rookie season, which has Banks enthused for what the future holds at the Swinburne Centre.

“It’s been so exciting around the group, and they’ve brought something different. It’s been awesome,” Banks told Triple M.

“Sammy (Lalor) hasn’t had the best of luck with his hammy, but he has been awesome.

“The big tall forwards, it’s pretty exciting to see where they’ll be in four-to-five years’ time.

“All of them have been unreal, and it’s an exciting place to be.”

Banks added it’s been important for the young playing group to be competing in close games, as has been the case during the majority of the campaign.

“We have been in a lot of games, especially in this back half of the year, minus probably the Gold Coast one,” he said.

“I think it’s shown real growth in the group. So many young blokes and exposing them to close games of footy has been awesome.”
