After a difficult 34-point loss to Brisbane in Round 7, Richmond coach Ryan Ferguson is adamant that his side will “embrace” the challenge of what is to come, as the Tigers prepare to seek out their first win in the back half of the season.

“We didn’t help ourselves early in the season, but if we embrace the challenge of what is in front of us, and that is absolutely what we are trying to do, improve our game week to week,” Ferguson said.

“We do want to be building as the season goes along. It’s obviously not the spot where we wanted to be, but this is the challenge.

“For a half, you could see how well we could match it with a really good team, so let’s do it for longer, make some adjustments.

“Deep down, I still feel like we can beat any team on any given day.”

Despite not being able to convert the sides’ hard work into wins this season, Ferguson takes confidence from the group’s hunger and preparation going into each week.

“The hunger is still there,” Ferguson said.

“The moral is still there, we are preparing well, and we have to continue to stay strong with that. That hasn't gone anywhere, but we still have to believe and keep building our game.”

Pressure midfielder Grace Egan starred in the Lions clash, recording 24 disposals, 13 contested possessions, eight tackles and four clearances. She polled one coaches' vote for her strong performance.

Egan echoed the words of her coach, insisting that the side needs to string together a four-quarter performance in hopes of putting wins on the board.

“We have seen us build over the last two weeks, and we have gotten so much better out there,” Egan said.

“We are able to play as a team and stick to our structure, and if we can play for four quarters, we will be able to get run on.

“I feel like we can go against Adelaide, and I feel like we can every single week, we just have to play four quarters, and we will be able to get it.”

Having missed a few games early on in the season due to injury, Egan takes positives in being able to take to the field and have an impact for her side.

“I’m building. I didn’t have the start to the season that I wanted,” Egan said.

“To be able to go out there, I just wanted to have more pressure and get around the ball.

“The tackles for me...that is the best stat you can get, and I’m pretty happy with that.”
