Richmond’s MCG schedule for 2026 comes to a close on Saturday, when it faces St Kilda. 

Here are some burning questions that could determine the result of the game.

How will Tigers celebrate champions?

It’s set to be an emotional Saturday at the MCG for the Tiger Army, with a trio of Club legends to be celebrated.

Three-time premiership players, Nathan Broad and Dion Prestia, will pull on the yellow and black for the last time, while dual premiership forward Tom Lynch will play his 250th game. 

The trio have meant so much to Richmond over their respective careers, providing the Tiger Army with countless memories that’ll last a lifetime.

Now, the current playing group, is determined to honour them with a victory at the ‘G.

"It's a bit unique, we get to send off two stalwarts of our footy club, superstars of our footy club, and do it on the day that we are celebrating one of our very best as well [in Lynch],” coach Adem Yze said.

"Three great Richmond men and we get an opportunity to do them proud with the way we go about it on Saturday afternoon.”

Can Tigers continue clearance success?

An area of the game where the Tigers have seen immense improvement as the season has progressed is in clearances.

From Rounds 16-21, Richmond has been a +2.5 in the clearance battle compared to its opposition, the fifth best rate in the AFL in that period. Last weekend in Adelaide, the Tigers once again gained ascendency at the coalface, winning clearances 39-38.

Star midfielder Tim Taranto has led the charge, averaging an elite 6.2 clearances per game, the equal-ninth best rate in the competition. 

Add in the ever-improving Jack Ross, who has found his best form since returning from concussion, the clearance work of captain Toby Nankervis, and the youthful exuberance of the likes of Sam Lalor, Taj Hotton and others, and the Tigers’ midfield brigade will once again be hoping to get first use of the ball from contest on Saturday.

Can Tigers reverse the Saints trend?

St Kilda, who are playing for its finals lives, have caused Richmond some trouble in recent times.

The Saints have won the past six meetings against the Tigers, including a comfortable 36-point result in Round 10 this season.

Richmond last triumphed against St Kilda in Round 14, 2023, a 20-point MCG win. In that game, Taranto collected a career-high 38 disposals, while Broad and Nick Vlastuin combined for 20 intercepts, and the Tigers will be hoping for a repeat of that result on Saturday.
