Kate Dempsey is preparing for a “special” moment with her family on Saturday night, when Richmond proudly wears the guernsey Dempsey designed for Pride Round.
Dempsey, with the help of her wife Ellie, designed the strong and bold guernsey that the Tigers will wear against the Kangaroos, but the meaning of it goes far beyond just a piece of fabric.
The entire family, including their daughters Pippa and Summer, will be wearing the guernsey, which will create an unforgettable moment for both Kate and Ellie.
“It's going to actually mean a lot,” Dempsey said on the Moments That Make Us.
“Particularly now that I've got two girls, two daughters, and the experiences we've had…we've always been part of Pride Round. Last year, Pride Round just happened to fall on my 50th game. I was in and around a lot of the media about it.
“For this year to have two little girls coming out to a women's football match wearing the jumper that their mums designed, in the place that we met, I think that's the thing that is really sticking out to me…like, wow, this is really special.
“Definitely a highlight of my career, it's really, really important to us.
“I honestly didn't know it would be until I've seen it in the flesh, and I've seen it particularly on my teammates, and then we're going to get little jumpers for the girls, and seeing that, it's pretty cool.”
