Richmond's first team of the 2026 season has officially landed, headlined by the debut of Sam Grlj on the MCG this Thursday night.
Grlj, who was told of his first game on Wednesday morning, will line up on the half-back line in his debut, after being selected with pick eight in the 2025 AFL Draft.
The 18-year-old has already impressed with his leadership and voice on-field, becoming key attributes that have allowed him to stand out over the summer. His blistering speed and impressive ball use have also thrilled throughout the pre-season.
Excitingly, he will be joined by Maurice Rioli, who will play his 50th AFL game on Thursday night.

Noah Balta joins the side after overcoming a hamstring setback, lining up in defence with Ben Miller, Nathan Broad, Sam Banks, Grlj and Jayden Short.
Hugo Ralphsmith, Sam Lalor and Kane McAuliffe make up the centreline. Skipper Toby Nankervis takes his spot in the ruck, alongside followers Tim Taranto and Jack Ross.
Seth Campbell, Rioli, Rhyan Mansell, Jonty Faull, Tom Lynch and Harry Armstrong complete the forward line.
On the interchange is James Trezise, Josh Gibcus, Jacob Hopper, Steely Green and Campbell Gray.
Luke Trainor, Tyler Sonsie and Tom Brown are the emergencies.
Richmond's Round 1 match against Carlton is set for the MCG this Thursday night from 7.30pm (AEDT).
The Tigers' VFL side will also play on Thursday, facing Carlton VFL at IKON Park from 1pm in a practice match, which will be live streamed on the Richmond website.
