Richmond defender Jayden Short has been rewarded for his solid efforts against Carlton, acknowledged in the Round 1 AFL Coaches' Association votes.
Short was one of Richmond's best in the four-point loss against the Blues, notching 29 touches, at 79 per cent efficiency, five intercept possessions and nine score involvements.
Midfielder Tim Taranto was the other Tiger to nab votes, collecting two after his 29 disposals, seven score involvements, seven clearances and four tackles.
Each week of the season, the two senior coaches vote on the best players in their respective match, giving 5-4-3-2-1. The maximum votes a player can get is 10 votes a week.
The overall league winner at the end of the season will be crowned the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.
