Tom Brown was a key positive for Richmond in the Anzac Day Eve loss to Melbourne.
The talented 22-year-old defender has had a relatively slow start to the 2026 season, until Friday night’s big clash.
He was left out of the Tigers’ senior side for the Round 1 match against Carlton, was recalled to the line-up for the Round 2 encounter with Gold Coast but then omitted following the Round 5 loss to Greater Western Sydney.
Brown was one of five inclusions into Richmond’s team for the Anzac Day Eve blockbuster, and he repaid the selectors’ faith, producing arguably the best performance of his 47-game AFL career.
He had an equal AFL career-high 24 disposals, eight contested possessions, an equal team-high seven marks, a game-high seven rebound-50s, team-high nine intercepts, three tackles and 423 metres gained.
It was a display that underlined Brown’s on-field attributes – poise, good reading of the play, intercept marking and elite kicking efficiency.
