Brett Gourley

Richmond has added another string to its bow with the signing of AFLW Senior Assistant Coach Brett Gourley.

Gourley has a decorated resume, most notably having coached North Melbourne’s VFLW program to two consecutive premierships.

Now he hopes to bring that success to Tigerland.

“It's a really exciting time to be a part of this group. Obviously, a fair reset that’s happened here recently and I’m just pumped to be on board with a really fantastic group,” Gourley told Richmond Media.

“I think you look at the list that we have here at Tigerland and it's a really exciting place to be at the moment.

“I can't wait to get to work next week with the group and hopefully implement a whole range of different things with this group.”

Richmond fans can expect an exciting, strong contested brand of footy, with Gourley eager to get to work and begin implementing his game-plan with the players.

“I think if you've watched North Melbourne play in the VFLW or the AFLW space the last couple of years, you know that it's a really exciting brand of football,” he said.

“One that's backed up by really strong contest and defence work as well, so you'll absolutely see an exciting, hopefully high-scoring brand of footy that we're going to bring across here.

“We’ll get to work on Monday and start to have a look at what it looks like on-field, but it’s a really exciting time to be here.”

Gourley, alongside new Head Coach Jarrad Donders, offer a fresh new look to the Club’s AFLW program.

“I've been working alongside Jarrad and having lots of communications with him over the last month or so, but we worked a bit together last year as well,” Gourley said.

“A couple of our players were at Eastern Rangers, so I've had a bit to do with him, and he's a fantastic person and an incredible coach, so I can't wait to get to work with Jarrad.”
