Richmond has broken the AFL record for the most intercept marks in a season.

The Tigers have taken 417 intercept marks so far this season, with at least two more games remaining during the finals series.

North Melbourne held the previous record of 402, which it established in 1999.

Star key defender Alex Rance leads the way for intercept marks at Richmond throughout season 2018 with 72, followed by Nick Vlastuin, 55, David Astbury, 46, Dylan Grimes, 33, and Toby Nankervis, 31.
