Stand-in Richmond skipper Shane Edwards is relishing his new role off half-back, producing a superb performance in Saturday night’s win over Sydney at Marvel Stadium.

The All-Australian shone as he notched 28 touches and 10 contested possessions to prevail as one of the Tigers' best on ground.

His second game in as many weeks across half-back, Edwards has slotted into the new position with ease, typified by his trademark poise and creativity.

“I’m enjoying it at the moment and learning it a lot,” he told Channel 7 after the match.

Senior coach Damien Hardwick said Edwards’ move down back, which was a suggestion by assistant coach Justin Leppitsch, has had an incredible impact on Richmond’s defensive unit.

“He’s been outstanding ever since he’s moved down back,” Hardwick said.

“His ability to win the ball and create turnover is impressive.”
