Richmond goalkicking great Matthew Richardson believes the Tigers’ prized key-forward recruit Tom Lynch is set for a big second half of season 2019.

Lynch, who joined Richmond as a restricted free agent from Gold Coast last October, has played all 13 games for the Tigers so far this season and kicked 28 goals.

He’s fifth in the Coleman Medal race and is ranked third competition-wide for contested marks and fourth for marks inside 50.

Richardson was particularly impressed with the way Lynch went about his forward craft in Richmond’s last match before the mid-season bye, against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

“I thought Tom, who’s had a few critics in the last month or so, that was the best he’s looked jumping at the footy. He moved well," Richardson said on this week’s episode of Richmond’s official podcast ‘Talking Tigers’.

“I feel like he’s probably getting into some fitness now, because he didn’t have a pre-season.

“Just the way he launched at the ball . . . I think he took four or five contested marks.

“It’s the best he’s looked launching at it, I reckon.”
