Richmond Football Club has been recognised twice in the 2019 Australian Business Awards.
Richmond was an ABA100 winner in the Community Contribution category, while the Club was also recognised as an Employer of Choice (EOC).
The Community Contribution category recognises organisations that implement initiatives which have a positive impact on the community and generate outcomes that have a long-term benefit.
“It is the community that ultimately provides sporting Clubs with their licence to operate and as such we have an opportunity to give back,” Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.
“Sport has the capacity to strengthen communities and improve lives and we are really pleased to be recognised for our Community Contribution in the 2019 Australian Business Awards.
“Our work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, multicultural communities and our preferred charity partner - the Alannah & Madeline Foundation - is central to our purpose and we will continue to strengthen the outcomes that we deliver in partnership with them.”

The Employer of Choice award recognises organisations that have developed workplaces which maximise the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.
Entrant organisations were required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of organisational culture; leadership and strategy; employee education, training and development; employee health, safety and satisfaction; performance management as well as recognition and remuneration.
“Our people are our strength. Connecting them to our purpose is critical to building a culture that helps us build success on and off the field,” Gale said.
“We are humbled to be selected as an Employer of Choice in the 2019 Australian Business Awards and it strengthens our resolve to continue to support the growth of our people which ultimately enables our business to thrive.”
As an EOC recipient, Richmond will now participate in the international chapter of the program at the World Business Awards whereby participants are provided with the unique opportunity to benchmark themselves against the top performers globally.

Each year ABA100 winners include private companies, publicly listed companies, multi-national subsidiaries, non-government organisations, educational institutions, franchise systems, partnerships, government departments, government agencies, local government and statutory bodies operating in Australia.
