Richmond will celebrate the beginning of its inaugural AFLW season with an open training session this Monday, November 25.

Kicking off at 6.15pm, Richmond’s newest team will be put through its paces while fans can enjoy food and drink in the sun, music, face painting, mascots, balloon artists and giveaways.

Following training new Tiger stars including Katie Brennan, Sabrina Frederick, Monique Conti and Christina Bernardi will commence a signing and photo session with fans.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said he hoped the Tiger Army would make the most of the landmark occasion.

“Monday night will be a significant occasion for our Club, and we are all looking forward to it,” he said.

“The establishment of a Richmond AFLW team has been four years in the making and it is with great pride that we can now officially get this fresh chapter of our history underway.

“It will be fantastic to welcome our AFLW team onto Punt Road Oval at the Swinburne Centre and we can’t wait to get to Ikon Park for our first ever AFLW game when we open the season against Carlton under lights on Friday, February 7.

“We have already sold 1400 Women’s Football Foundation Memberships which is a clear demonstration that this team is going to enjoy the same wonderful support our men’s program also receives.”

Richmond finalised its AFLW list at last month’s NAB AFLW Draft with 11 live selections, including Sophie Molan (No.7 Overall) who became the Club’s first ever Women’s draft pick.

Earlier in the year, eight players were recruited from other clubs during the Expansion Sign and Trade period, while a further 11 players joined the list as elevations from the VFLW program.

Tom Hunter was announced as the inaugural AFLW Head Coach in June.
