Steely Green has somewhat slipped under the radar in terms of Richmond’s positives so far in the 2026 season.
The 22-year-old small forward has had to shoulder extra responsibility due to the absence, through injury, of other Tiger small forwards in Rhyan Mansell, Maurice Rioli, Taj Hotton and Jasper Alger, but he has risen to the challenge.
He has played all nine games and is averaging 10.3 disposals, 2.9 marks, 1.1 goals (10 in total), 5.0 score involvements, 2.9 tackles and 168.8 metres gained.
Green’s goal tally is impressive, especially when you consider he kicked 11 goals all-up last season in 19 games (one game as the unused substitute and two as the activated substitute).
He’s currently second on Richmond’s goalkicking list for the season, two behind Seth Campbell.
In last Sunday’s clash with Adelaide at the MCG, Green again was a valuable contributor across the Tiges’ forward line, with 10 disposals, five marks, one goal, three score involvements, five tackles and 122 metres gained.
Although they’re not huge numbers, Green continues to perform an important role within Richmond’s line-up, particularly given the absence of so many of his small-forward teammates.
