Veteran star key forward Tom Lynch continues to have an important impact within Richmond’s line-up.
Lynch has kicked seven goals in the past four games after returning from a four-week stint on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
He is clunking his marks and looking dangerous across the Tigers’ forward line.
Lynch’s other benefit for the Richmond side is freeing up talented, young key forward Jonty Faull.
In Lynch’s absence through injury this season, Faull had to be the No. 1 inside-50 target for the Tigers and, not surprisingly, at just 20 years of age, he found it a tough task up against the opposition’s main key defender.
But the return of Lynch has had a significant influence on Faull’s form.
In the past three games, Faull has kicked four goals, had 13 score involvements, taken 14 marks, with four of them contested grabs and four inside-50.
Faull’s performance against Euro-Yroke at Marvel Stadium on Sunday was the best of his fledgling AFL career.
He had a career-high 13 disposals, along with a career-high seven marks, kicked an impressive long set-shot goal and narrowly missed another couple, had six score involvements, three inside-50s and 248 metres gained.
After a slowish start to this season, Faull now looks lively and confident up forward.
That is good news for the Tigers, and a credit to Lynch for continuing to shoulder the responsibility in the team’s forward line and easing the burden on Faull.
