Talented Richmond forward duo Jasper Alger and Rhyan Mansell have signed contract extensions until the end of 2027.
Alger is in career-best form, winning the Round 14 AFL Rising Star nomination for a four-goal haul against Brisbane last Sunday. He also had 10 disposals, six marks, five of which were inside-50, and seven score involvements.
It comes after Alger kicked three goals against Sydney in Round 12, as the talented 183cm forward continues to showcase his attacking smarts.
Alger was the No. 58 pick in the 2024 draft and has played eight games in his career so far.
Mansell has established himself as a vital piece to the Tigers’ line-up since joining the Club as an SSP signing ahead of the 2021 season.
The 26-year-old approaches the game with a tenacious attitude, with his hard-working and high-pressure game style making him a favourite at the Swinburne Centre.
Mansell booted 18 goals last season, adding to his 21 from 2024. Last year, he was first at Richmond for tackles inside-50 and ranked in the top five for score involvements and goal assists.
He has played just one game this season due to wrist and foot injuries. In that one match, the Round 1 clash with Carlton, Mansell kicked two goals.
Richmond Executive General Manager - Football Talent, Blair Hartley, is delighted to have locked away two of the Club’s most exciting forwards.
“Jasper and Rhyan are central parts of our future and have already displayed their talent and attributes,” Hartley said.
“Jasper’s impact at AFL level this season has been a credit to his dedication since joining the Club and working though his rehab in the early part of this year.
“Rhyan’s value and importance to the Club is enormous, and we can’t wait to see him back on the field.
“We look forward to both players continuing their careers at Richmond and building on the strong foundations they have laid here at the Swinburne Centre.”
