Richmond confirms that co-captain Ellie McKenzie sustained a fractured ulnar in yesterday’s Australia v Ireland International AFLW match.
McKenzie will miss the early rounds of the season, with a further timeline to be established in the coming days.
“Unfortunately, Ellie received a kick to the forearm during yesterday’s game in Sydney,” Richmond GM of Women’s Football, Jane Woodlands-Thompson said.
“Scans have confirmed a fractured ulnar, that will rule her out for the early rounds of the season.
“It is disappointing news for Ellie and for us, given the excellent pre-season she has had and player that she is.
“We know that Ellie will do everything she can to get back as early as possible and we will provide an update on those timelines when we can.”
McKenzie, 23, is set to play her 50th AFLW match upon her return. The former number one draft pick was elevated to Richmond’s co-captain this season.
