Judson Clarke made a successful return to the AFL playing field in Richmond’s gallant loss to Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old, who was making his first appearance at the game’s highest level in 867 days, following two knee reconstructions, moved well throughout and appeared assured out there.
He had 13 disposals, eight contested possessions, three inside-50s, three clearances, six score involvements and 254 metres gained in an encouraging AFL comeback performance.
Richmond coach Adem Yze paid tribute to Clarke during his post-match press conference.
“He deserved his opportunity. It was great to see him out there running around in the yellow and black, smile on his face,” Yze said.
“He’s a great teammate, he works so hard. The players love him, our Tiger Army love him, and we love him.
“The next couple of games, he’ll get opportunity. But once he gets some confidence in his body at AFL level, it’s going to be really exciting.
“They’re the little moments and little stories that we’re really proud of. The next couple of games will be nice for him.”
