Seth Campbell’s X-factor was on full display in Richmond’s clash with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval last Saturday night.

The super-skilled, speedy forward seized the initiative for the Tigers with three consecutive goals in the match during the second and third quarters, making light of the difficult wet conditions.

First-up, late in the second term, was an around-the-corner, set-shot goal from close range after receiving a pass from teammate Steely Green.

Then, in the opening minutes after the half-time break, Campbell exploded, firstly with a clever snap goal from the outside of his right boot followed quickly by a superb set-shot six-pointer close to the boundary line, on the ‘wrong’ side for a right-footer.

Campbell’s three goals were a game high, and they took his season’s tally to 17, which is three behind the Club’s leading goalkicker Mykelti Lefau, with two home-and-away rounds remaining.

He won the Michael Roach Medal as the Tigers’ leading goalkicker last year with 28 goals.

Richmond coach Adem Yze commended Campbell during his post-match press conference.

“He had a terrific game,” Yze said.

“He’s obviously been toiling away, but he got some midfield exposure today, kicks three (goals). 

“He looked like the Seth Campbell that we love.”
