Ted started at Richmond in 1964 as a recruiter, before taking up the position of team manager of the Under 19s.

He worked in the Tigers' property department from the early 1980s to the late 2000s and since then, has come in one day a week to volunteer his time with the property team.

Members of the Richmond Football Club community, including former and current players and staff, gathered to celebrate Ted’s milestone.

Richmond historian Bill Meaklim and former Tigers Matthew Richardson, Wayne Campbell, Chris Naish, Neil Balme, Dale Weightman and Shaun Grigg were among those who spoke in recognition of Ted.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale then announced the Club’s property room will be named the ‘Ted Charles Soderblom Property Room’.

“It’s fantastic to see you acknowledged,” Gale said.

“You’ve done (your contribution) quietly, you’ve done it humbly and you’ve done it happily.

“You symbolise a lot of people in the background who play their roles with great humility.”
