Dustin Martin was the only Richmond player to feature in the Round 12 voting for the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award.

The Tiger young gun received four votes for his outstanding first-half display up forward in last Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

He had 19 disposals and four goals on the board up to half-time, inspiring Richmond to a six-goal lead at the main break.

It all went pear-shaped for the Tigers after that, but Martin’s efforts clearly didn’t go unnoticed by respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Brad Scott (North Melbourne).

“I thought his performance in the first half was as good as you’ll see.  His second half probably reflected the side,” Hardwick said.

“He’s a very capable one-on-one player, who is very hard for opponents to defend against down there.”

North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein and Levi Greenwood were the leading AFLCA Player of the Year vote-getters in the match, with nine apiece.
