Richmond’s premiership winning Wheelchair Football coach, Matt Morris, will lead the Victorian team at this year’s Disability Sports Australia Wheelchair Australian Rules Nationals.

Morris, who has coached the Tigers to Grand Final appearances for the past two seasons, follows the lead of AFL coach Damien Hardwick, who was also given the top state job earlier this year.

Morris said he was excited to be selected into the role.

“To be given the chance to coach the eight most elite wheelchair AFL players in the state is a massive opportunity,” he added.

“I’m hoping to replicate the positive team culture we fostered at Richmond that has been integral to the success of the Tigers.”

Included in Morris’ team will be familiar faces in Nathan Wilburn and Vincent Naidu who have been selected to make their Victorian debuts.

The National Championships start on April 2, with the VWFL to commence on May 24.

The Tigers will meet Collingwood in Round 2 in a Grand Final rematch from the past two seasons.
