Following a thorough post-season review of the Club’s women’s football program, the Club has decided not to renew the contract of AFLW Coach, Tom Hunter.

The entire Richmond Football Club thanks him for his commitment and contribution as the Club’s inaugural AFLW coach.

Since 2016, Hunter, 29, has been in coaching roles in the Club's VFL and VFLW programs, before being announced as Richmond’s AFLW coach last year.

“I thank the Richmond Football Club for the past three years in the Women’s program, and my previous time working in the VFL,” Hunter said.

“I am grateful for the experience, and I know it will hold me in good stead to continue my coaching career.

“I have plans to return to teaching in the interim, with the goal of remaining in football in some capacity in the future."

Richmond’s Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan paid tribute to the departing Hunter.

“Building a women’s program from the ground up over the past three years has been a significant undertaking, and Tom has been an important part of that process,” she said.

"Tom is incredibly professional, hardworking, and a wonderful person to have been part of our football club.

“We thank him for all he has done as the senior coach of our AFLW program, and wish him all the best for the future when his current contract with the Club finishes.”
