Richmond great Dale ‘Flea’ Weightman could be just a matter of days away from shaving off his iconic moustache.

The Tigers’ 1980 premiership hero and Team of the Century member is in the process of raising $5000 for “Mind Over Matter Month”, an initiative that aims to assist children and young adults living with type 1 diabetes.

“I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes right when my AFL career was kicking off,” said the former champion rover.

“It was a daily challenge, but didn’t stop me playing with my beloved Tigers.

“Knowing first-hand how it affects your life, I’m right behind the Mind Over Matter Month, which raises important funds and awareness for children and young adults suffering with type 1 diabetes.

“I’m aiming to raise $5000.  If I achieve my goal, I will shave off my moustache, which I’ve been sporting since my playing days . . .”
