Richmond champion midfielder Dustin Martin maintained his incredible recent dominance over Essendon in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime in Darwin clash at TIO Stadium.

Martin, who went into the match having racked up 15 of a possible 18 Brownlow Medal votes in his previous six encounters with the Dons, yet again feasted on them.

He had a team-high 30 disposals, including a game-high 17 contested possessions, game-high nine inside-50s, team-high seven clearances, along with a game-high 651 metres gained in the Tigers’ 12-point victory.

Although Martin’s brilliant young teammate Shai Bolton won the Yiokeen Award for his superb display through the midfield, it wouldn’t be surprising if the 2017 Brownlow Medallist received the three votes from the field umpires.

Martin’s dynamic Dreamtime in Darwin display against the Dons earned him nine votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year award for Round 13.

He’s now jumped up into 11th place in the prestigious award with a total of 37 votes.

Bolton also picked up nine votes for his excellent exhibition under the TIO Stadium lights.
